IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT BUS FARES

Effective October 1, 2009, ALL passengers of the Benzie Bus must pay their fare when boarding the vehicle.  Charges, or any other arrangement to pay later, will no longer be allowed. Benzie Bus is a pay-to-ride service for everyone in Benzie County and relies on passenger fares and taxpayer support to operate.  Benzie Bus offers half-price  fares for seniors (age 55+), people with disabilities, and children (ages 6-12); children 5 or younger ride free with an adult.

If you cannot afford the fare to ride the Benzie Bus, please consider these options:

Buy a discount “punch pass” from Benzie Bus and save money per ride.  Call (231) 325-3000 or toll free (866) 325-3380 Ask your employer about help from their employee assistance program. If you are age 60+, contact the Council on Aging at (231) 325-4851 or toll free (888) 893-1102

Full Fare - $3.00
Senior Citizen (55 & older) - $1.50
Persons with Disabilities - $1.50
Children 6 - 12 years old - $1.50
Children 5 years old and under - No Charge w/ Adult
Infants - No Charge - Parents must provide proper car seat

YEAR ROUND HOURS:
Monday through Friday: 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Saturday- 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Discount Tickets

Persons with disabilities wanting to apply for Reduced Fares need to complete the Special Services application, which can be obtained from any of our drivers or at our office in Honor.  The completed form can be given to a driver or dropped off at the Honor location.   The Executive Director receives, reviews and approves the applications.  If your application is approved a card will be mailed to you and then you are eligible for Reduced Fare.  Tickets may be purchased at our main office in Honor or from bus drivers.  If purchasing from a bus driver, passengers must have the exact amount for rides or purchases, drivers do not handle any cash.

*Please note that Seniors and Children 12 and Under do not need to complete the Special Services Application to qualify for Reduced Fares.

SENIOR (55 years & older)

Single passes – reduced rate ($1.50)
12 punch card ($18.00 value can be purchased at the reduced rate of $15.00)

REGULAR FARE

Regular Fare single passes- $3.00
12 Punch card ($36.00 value can be purchased at the reduced rate of $30.00)

REDUCED FARE

Children 12 and under- $1.50 each way
Seniors (55+)- $1.50 each way
Persons with Disabilities- $1.50 each way
12 Punch card ($18.00 value can be purchased at the reduced rate of $15.00)

Private Charters

Benzie Bus does not offer private chartered service.  Call 231-325-3000 with specific questions.
